The Latest adidas SPEZIAL SS21 Collection Features The adidas SPZL Todmorden Smock
The adidas SPZL Todmorden Smock is just one of the latest styles to drop as part of Gary Aspden’s celebrated SPEZIAL line for SS21.
You could say Gary Aspden knows a thing or two about classic adidas. His time working with the celebrated SPEZIAL line has allowed him access to the vast Herzogenaurach archives, bringing back everything from beloved 3 stripes styles from the 1980s to lesser known Japanese exclusives. Gary is now back for the latest season with the SS21 Spezial collection with a selection of new styles like the adidas SPZL Todmorden smock which takes its name from the West Yorkshire market town.
As usual there’s plenty of “old meets new” styles introduced. In the footwear department there’s the Marathon 86′ SPZL, which puts a bold fluorescent yellow spin the classic 80s running shoe. The Malmo from the original City Series line is re-introduced with the Malmo Net SPZL which draws inspiration from a rare Malmo model from the archives, which was originally released back in 1976. Like the original Malmo, the colourway draws inspiration from the Swedish flag. Other footwear styles includes the Blackburn Ewood SPZL in an updated red colourway and the adidas Burnden SPZL which gives a nod to classic court styles from the 1980s.
On the apparel side of things we are treated to brand new outerwear styles like the Todmorden Smock & the Aldrington Anorak. The Todmorden Smock takes it’s name from the West Yorkshire market town where aliens apparently visited in the 1980s. Little green men aside it’s a pretty cool looking piece and has previously featured on Liam Gallagher. The Aldrington Anorak takes its name from the Brighton & Hove area & draws inspiration from the archives with outdoors inspiration and a classic 90s colour-blocking theme. Other apparel highlights includes the Birchall t-shirt, the Ewood tracksuit & the Durrington sweat shorts.
The adidas SPZL Todmorden Smock & adidas SPEZIAL SS21 collection launches on Thursday 22nd July 2021 from a range of retailers we work with.
