Nike Revive The Legendary Air Max Triax 96 USA Trainer
The Nike Air Max Triax 96 USA trainer was first introduced to celebrate the USA Olympics held in Atlanta back in 1996.
If you’re an avid sports fan then a summer full of top sports will always be remembered regardless whether it was nearly 25 years ago. Take 1996 for example, we had Euro’ 96 in England with Gazza’s famous dentist chair celebration and we also had the Olympic games in Atlanta. At the time Nike introduced the AM Triax 96 USA as part of their Team USA footwear & apparel releases. The Triax would continue until 1998 as a popular Air Max style among AM aficionado’s, but it was arguably the Nike Air Max Triax 96 USA that was the most remembered of the Triax family.
The main notable difference between the Triax 96 and say for example the AM 97 was the fact the Triax had Zoom Air cushioning toward the front of the midsole as oppose to the full length visible Air Unit. The style was a popular choice for runners at the time thanks to a range of endorsements from pro USA athletes such Gwen Torrence. The trainer also featured the signature ‘USA’ graphics to the heel which also featured on the team USA Olympic kits at the time as well as a USA inspired flag to the tongue tab. It was these small details that created a massive desirability for the shoe at the time with the rise of American sportswear across Europe.
For 2020, Nike have revived the legendary Olympic running trainer from their Oregon archives. Highlights of the classic Triax style include the famous team USA colourways of midnight navy, university red & midnight with a mixture of synthetic & mesh uppers. USA branding features to the heel with the continuation of the USA flag to the heel tab. The trainer is finished off with the signature Air Max Triax sole unit to the midsole.
