The Nike Air Max 90 Drops In An Ultramarine Women’s Exclusive
The Nike Air Max 90 Ultramarine Women’s trainer draws inspiration from the OG colourways of the Air Max 180 which was re-released back in 2018.
The Nike Air Max 180 was the first to sport the bold ‘Ultramarine’ colours when it made its comeback two years ago, in 2018. The colourway marked the return of the 1991 silhouette, & the bold 90s Ultramarine colourway and has since inspired a range of different Nikes. This year, Nike unleashed the Air Max 90 dressed in the same sporty hues and have now released the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Ultramarine’ Women’s exclusive for the female AM fans. One of many colourways we’ve seen this year, including plenty of women’s only pairs, in celebration of the iconic Tinker Hatfield silhouette’s 30th anniversary.
The now redesigned lifestyle trainer stays true to its running roots with a rubber waffle outsole, stitched overlay and rubber accents. This iteration in particular pays tribute to the shoes original purpose with its hits of ‘Flash Crimson’ and ‘Racer Blue’ on a bright white base, in true 90’s runner style. The ‘Ultramarine’ comes dressed in a mixture of textiles, typical to the Am90: mesh, leather and rubber. Breathable mesh covers the toe, tongue, collar and lining in white and finished with white laces. The white continues onto the leather overlays and mudguard, displaying a white TPU logo window, the white leather then further blends in with the white rubber midsole.
Finally, the shoe shows off contrasting, colour-blocked accents; with hits of ‘Flash Crimson’ colouring the lower eye-stay, back tab with white logo detailing and midsole wedge, complete with white/translucent visible air bag. Complementing the flashes of red is ‘Racer Blue’ on the upper eyestay, leather swoosh, forefoot outsole and finally the tongue logo.
As usual with the Air Max 90, the shoe is breathable, lightweight and cushiony – due to the materials used and the infamous Air Max technology. The silhouette is wearable, comfortable and stylish, on top of this, the ‘Ultramarine’ colours are fresh and classic making them timeless and easy to style. Indigo denim will really make this pair pop, otherwise, opt for an outfit with hints of red and/or blue to match.
