The Nike Air Max 96 II ‘Goldenrod’ trainer & makes a grand return for April 2021.
If you were wearing Air Max back in the 1990s you will remember how quickly the new styles came and went. There was no such thing as “OG appreciation”. You generally wore the new styles that were coming out at the time. 1996 was a prime example of how thick and fast the Air Max releases were back then. It was the year that Nike released the Air Max 96 or the Air Total Max as it was more commonly known. 1996 also marked the release of the Air Max Triax 96 trainer, the Air Max Tailwind 96 & the Nike Air Max 96 II ‘Goldenrod’ trainer which now returns as part of a special 25th anniversary release.
Dropping directly in the middle of the Nike Air Max 95 and the Nike Air Max 97, the Air Max 96 II is a relatively unknown silhouette as far as the OG 90s stuff goes. The design utilised a similar sole unit of the Air Max 95 and featured mesh uppers with leather overlays for added support and stability. The chunky design had a similar vibe to other runners released in 96′ such as the Reebok Aztrek & the adidas ETQ Light for example.
Every Air Max has its most notable colourways. In the case of the Air Max 96 II trainer it’s the ‘Goldenrod’ colourway which now returns for April 2021. Highlights include classic 96 styling with clean white leather overlays, gold mini swooshes to the toe box & sides, alongside an Air Max 95 inspired sole unit.
The Air Max 96 II ‘Goldenrod’ trainer will be launching over the coming weeks from a range of retailers we work with. Also don’t forget to subscribe to mint. & follow @the_mint_mag to keep up to date with all the latest apparel, footwear & everything else in between.
